INVESTING IN AFRICA
PERFECT TIMING
Through our consistent work and investments in Africa, we have been allowing other countries to benefit from African markets.
However, during the practical daily working processes, by consistently coming across to so many great opportunities through our work, we more and more have come to the realization that we cannot do the work alone anymore, as the time is going and untapped opportunities unleashing everyday. Additionally now, by borders being removed and the rest of the world are drying out, therefore we have decided to educate those who would like to dive in the richest continent so far uncovered. Our motivation is to develop Africa and to see people get rewarded for that. Therefore we would like to invest our all knowledge, experience, practical advice and everything that it would possibly be needed to build your own.....
However, in order to invest and to work with Africa, is not enough to just see opportunity and run straight in it, as the whole process requires knowledge, understanding, wisdom and know how.
Regarding specifically - Africa, frankly speaking, we have not been willing to cooperate on deals or to accept daily offered investments at this point, from any partner or investor, unless the full understanding is obtained first. So, as it is not the conversation on one off meeting, we have taken decision to develop a a very exciting, practical, engaging full educational platform - African Investment Academy.

- Introduction
Africa continues to hold much promise and much mystery for global investors. The African market carries the most potential and opportunities when it is approached correctly and with risks properly managed. This is especially true right now, where weak global economic growth has become the ''new normal''. Africa has remained the only bright spot across the world's economy.
A number of tailwinds are converging to transform Africa forever. These tailwinds or themes will form the core of my thesis, of how Africa will be transformed into a global economic powerhouse over the next decade and will continue to grow stronger, to the extent that we can confidently predict, that the next century will be called the 'African Century'.
These tailwinds includes:
1. AfCFTA (African Continent Free Trade Agreement)
This agreement will transform Africa's internal market, which will allow the companies on the continent to build strong cross border businesses.
The fragmented nature of Africa has been the greatest impediment of its growth, but as borders are substantively removed and measures, that allow freedom of goods, services, people and capital to move across the continent, are removed, it will unleash an unprecedented wave of prosperity across the continent.
2. Africa Industrialization
We are seeing Africa industrialize at an unprecedented scale across major industries, as well as the allied growth of the services sector across the continent.
This is creating a value added economy that is beginning, to allow Africa to benefit from its unparalleled amount of natural resources of every kind, including its people.
3. Technological Transformation and Education
Technology is a reliable enabler of economic growth all over the world, but in Africa, its effect has been explosive and has released a huge amount of previously untapped potential on the continent.
The next stage is the increasing use of data that will help us to uncover patterns that were hidden before and create solutions to chronic challenges in sectors, like financial service, sanitation, education, healthcare, agriculture and energy.
It will also help us to improve governance on the continent.
4. Demographic Dividend
The continent has the youngest population on the planet, with more than 40% of Africans under 15 years of age.
While the rest of the world is getting older, the continent of Africa remains extremely youthful and with the convergence of technology and industrialization with youth; it is not hard to foresee that the continent will drive global growth for a long time to come.
5. Growth in the respect of the rule of law and democracy
While not yet perfect, the rule of law has advanced across the continent. Every country recognizes, that to attract investors and international partners, they have to do more to create certainty in law with regards to human and property rights as a minimum.
This is an ongoing process across Africa and we are also seeing the policing of the democratic processes on the continent by other African countries. This suggests a maturing of the nations and the continent as a whole.
Conclusion
Now is the perfect time to access this very attractive continent. The continent stands on the cusp of transformation. It is looking for business partners not aid.
AFRICA IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS

After the course, we will have a scheduled meeting with each participant separately, to understand their investment goals and see how we can assist them further.
Our goal through this course, is for participants to have a clear framework for investing in Africa, therefore the course will be very practical.
The program will be split into 4 key blocks. Full introduction HERE (for Windows) and HERE (for MAC) :
We will start with an introduction to Private Equity and the African market.- Analysis: (In this block, we will look at various forms of analysis of key African markets)
- Supply chain analysis
- Country analysis
- Sector analysis
- Risk analysis
- Financial analysts
The emphasis here, is learning to get accurate information.
The truth - is the foundation of any successful strategy, so we focus on getting truthful and factual information to feed our decision making.
2. Selection and Investment Decision
Having done our analysis, we can now move on to:- Investment strategy
- Investment mapping and screening
- Building suitable investment and business models
3. Financing Decision
Having selected our investments, we must now ask ourselves the following questions:- What are the financing strategies open to us?
- How do we structure the investments as assets to meet our specific investment needs?
- How do we build a private equity financing strategy to be integrated to our business model?
These include venture capital, growth capital, leveraged buyouts, senior and mezzanine lending, distressed and other newer and innovative models across a range of sectors and allows investors to choose sectors that matches their current experience, if necessary.
4. Management and Exit Strategy
Here, we will study various asset management strategies, examine the concept of EVA (economic value added), exit and/or succession strategies and tax.
While we will be looking at different sectors in brief, we will mainly focus on the food sector. This includes the whole supply chain, from agricultural production to exports and retail (otherwise known ''Farm to Plate''). We will be studying this from the standpoint of global food security.
From this, we will extrapolate strategies that we can apply to all other sectors.
We will also look at these within the context of the AfCFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area), industrialization, Technology, Demographics and Governance, which for agriculture includes dealing with legal issues connecting with land and water rights for foreign investors.
Other sectors we will study:- Energy
- Financial Services
- Metals and Materials
- Manufacturing
- Agriculture and Forestry
- Technology
- Healthcare
- Infrastructure and Telecommunication
- Real Estate
- Telecommunication
- Education
- WHY US?
Evago Global Capital is an emerging market focused investment banking company and its CEO Evans Osemwegie has amassed a lot of practical experience advising many companies and governments on capital raising and investments, both in Africa and in other emerging and developed economies.
He is also a sought-after speaker and writer. His blogs and articles have been published in the USA, Latvia, South Africa, Nigeria, UK, Switzerland, Dubai amongst others.
He has been invited to participate in various investment conferences in Tanzania, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait (where Evago was one of the main sponsors) and London (where he chaired the internationally renowned Alternative Investment Summit).
However, what is most important to know, is that he is an entrepreneur and investor that manages and works with African business projects, companies and investments daily.
Through our work in Africa, he is now able to deal with the Presidents of any of the African nations, therefore, he approaches this course from a unique perspective.
The continent is famously resource rich, but we focus our attention more to the people than the projects, because this is where the opportunities and risks reside in the African market.
We are one of the companies, that have quietly entered the market in key strategic areas. We have leveraged on key governmental relationships, because the governments are still at the center of everything in Africa.
We are willing to share our experience, strategies, knowledge and relationships across all levels of African society to a select group of partners and co investors.
We are willing to do this, because there are much more opportunities than we can finance or develop ourselves and in order to accelerate African development, it is necessary to begin to bring in teams of committed partners.
Even though, Africa is a land of outrageous opportunities, there are various prerequisites that have to be complied with before stepping in, therefore, we have decided to start with education, as Africa in many ways, is not the same as the rest of the world. Knowledge, understanding and wisdom is what is first needed to achieve a success in the continent of Africa.
WHY PRIVATE EQUITY?
There is an old story that highlights the need and purpose of Private Equity.
A long time ago lived a king that was concerned about the lack of responsibility in his land and decided to teach his people a lesson. One night, he placed a large rock in the middle of the road and left because he wanted to see what his citizens will do. Days went by and everyone went around the rock without attempting to move the rock.
Eventually, a poor farmer on his way to the market saw the rock and decided to move it out the way. After several attempts, he was successful in moving the rock to the side of the road and after doing this, he saw a bag exactly where the rock had been, he picked it up and discovered it contained a lot of gold and had a note from the king stating that the bag and his content belongs to the responsible person that removed the rock from the road.
The moral of this story is that there is a bag of gold behind every problem, there are rewards both material and otherwise for those who spend all of their lives solving problems for society.
This completely encapsulates the whole purpose of private equity, which is about financing and managing the resolution of problems in society, both big and small. From new medical breakthroughs to the launching of a new kindergarten in a local town; these are solutions to problems and these are financed mostly by private equity.
Certainly, recently these core principles has been lost, but they are needed now more than ever, as the world finds itself confronting major challenges in every sector. We need more entrepreneurs to stand up and create and finance solutions to new and old problems.
While money is not always the answer, it is always necessary to give the necessary impetus to any projects.
What we do as private equity investors, is to support these entrepreneurs, sectors and governments so we can save and increase jobs, rebuild lives, community and nations and finally bring back hope and dignity that was lost.
In these sessions, I will be telling a story of private equity and teaching you, how you can also put your capital to work in a way that will bring you more attractive returns and also achieve a discernible positive impact in society.
